We have a great new release out today that you will love as much as us!
If you're having trouble reading this please click here.
Out today: Alex Metric 'Whatshewants'
"This kid has been making some serious waves throughout the music world for his forward thinking approach"
(DJ Mag Sureplayer)
"Showing great signs of character and strength in his rock-party and electro infused sound, this has that special vibrancy we can't help but love"
(Mixmag Single of the Month)
Size matters, and by any standard of measurement, Alex Metric's talent is large, as made clear by his debut for us.
At just 26 years of age, he has made a big splash as both DJ and producer. He's played gigs spanning the globe from
Fabric in London to Eastern European festivals to Los Angeles clubs. Nominated as breakthrough producer at the 2006
Breakspoll awards, expect to be hearing a lot more from Alex Metric.
On the genre-smashing Whatshewants, Metric's productions have become more assured, as have the range of influences he brings
into his music. Inspired by everything from Jacques Le Cont and Daft Punk to his obsession with bad 80's records and krautrock
rhythms, Metric chops up the beats 'n vocals here like if he were Prince signed to Ed Banger. Slamming tracks like "Oh"
percolate with ironic electro-pop synths and brash hip-hop attitude, while "Breakin Hearts" seduces with chunky guitar
glitch given the trademark Metric acid wash. The e.p.'s cheeky power culminates in the title track, "Whatshewants,"
a squelching dancefloor stormer whose chunky hooks bring rude rock intensity to electronic club thump. "It's all quite a
mash-up of stuff," Metric explains. "I'm inspired by anything with a bit of balls and attitude.".
12" Vinyl: A. Whatshewants / B. Breakin Hearts
Buy the vinyl in the shop
now or wait until the 6th August for downloads, with a digital only bonus track 'Oh'
Still Available: Jape - 'Floating'
"Jape plugs his country shack into a synth for an electro-dirge.. continues with Prins Thomas putting down a punk-house
kick drum… and Alex Metric booting the track out of the countryside and making it bodypop" (One Week To Live)
Available on vinyl, mp3 and wav, from the Marine
Parade Shop. You can buy a zip file of all 6 mixes for the bargain price of £3.99 (320kbps mp3) or £4.99 (wav)
Still Available: Adam Freeland - 'Global Underground'
"There's nothing out there quite like it. Arguably Adam's and Global Underground's finest ever mix" (iDJ magazine compilation of the month)
"It is enough to turn your head into jelly - and jelly feels good. Freeland's the type of DJ who keeps people moving by firing
shots at their feet. It makes for a pretty memorable experience."
(ibeats Review)
Adam's Global Underground has been released to critical acclaim and shows his DJ style cannot be pigeon-holed. To buy the CD and

There is also a brand new Adam Freeland single featured on the CD. 'Silverlake Pills' will be released by Global Underground
on August 27th with remixes by Smash TV and Gui Boratto.
Top Ten
Alex Metric top ten records of the moment
- Goose 'Bring It On' - Great Song, Great Synths… perfect
- Hard Fi 'Suburban Nights' (Alex Metric Remix) - Fresh out of the studio and sounding large
- Aaren San - 'Osc Low Nyzz' (Blende Mix)-
Blende kills it again, great attitude to this track.
- Jens 'Wired' - Fantasic noisy house from one half of digitalism
- Dusty Kid 'Mantrakoma' - Great reversed vocals and hypnotic groove. Weird in all the right ways.
- Arrow!!! 'D.O.E.S.' - Sounding ridiculously French from the minute it starts. A nice melodic journey to the French electro sound.
- Adam Freeland 'Silverlake Pills' - Huuuuuge record. E tastic slice of euphoric distortion.
- Alex Metric 'Casio Rock' - Future single from me, funk and emotion in equal measures
- Rage Against the Machine 'Killing in the name of' (Oizo mix)- Huge wherever I've heard it.
How can you fail with a robotised rage?
- Tepr 'Minuit Jacuzzi' (DatA mix)- I love this so much. All about the chords in the breakdown. 80's LRD vibes aplenty.
